AUTEUR THEORY
An auteur is when a director or an individual who works on a film
starts to create an imprint/pattern with their work. It mostly suggests that a film is a reflection
of the director’s artistic vision, but if a musician creates a certain tone
with their music they can be classed as an auteur.
The
term “Auteur theory” is credited to the critics of the French film
journal Cahiers du cinéma, many of which became the directors of the French New Wave.
In all
of Alfred Hitchcock’s movies, the audience can see certain ideas and images
that pop up again and again. This is where the term the “Hitchcock Blonde” came from. Another example
of this is with Michael bay movies which notoriously involve grandee explosions
which in many cases are unnecessary but add to the action of the film
(transformers) .
